Epworth man accused of raping daughter (4)
HARARE – A 42-year-old Epworth man who allegedly raped his four-year-old daughter has appeared in court facing rape charges. The man was not formally charged when he appeared before Harare magistrate Ms Anita Tshuma.
He was remanded in custody to tomorrow for trial and was advised to apply for bail at the High Court. Prosecuting for the State, Ms Sharon Mashavira told the court that on September 18 in the afternoon, the complainant’s mother took the girl’s clothes off so that she could bath her.
Ms Mashavira alleged that the mother noticed that the girl had a white discharge. The girl also complained to her mother that she was experiencing an itchy sensation. It is alleged that the mother then consulted her neighbours about what she had seen.
It is the court’s case that the mother then decided to question the girl. During the interrogation the girl disclosed how she had been allegedly raped by her father. The court heard that the mother went to make a report to the police and the father was subsequently arrested.
