FACT OR STAGE-MANAGED MIRACLE……………….?

By Nigel Pfunde and Arron Nyamayaro

There was drama in Chitungwiza on Monday night when a shopkeeper fainted after the money that a customer had paid miraculously first turned into papers then eventually into a walking stick.

H-Metro did not witness this happening and this is based on what is being claimed by the alleged victim and people in the community. The incident occurred at TM Gomera mart located at Seke Unit O shopping centre.

According to witnesses, the 18 year-old shop attendant only identified as Talent Mavetera fainted when the money turned into a walking stick. The stick was later to be confiscated by a prophet identified only as Madzibaba B from Unit O, Seke.

He could not be located. The shaken teenager narrated her horror saying;

“It was around 5pm yesterday (Monday) when a certain middle aged man came through and bought food worth US$35. He paid US$50 and I gave him his change. I was surprised that when I put the money in the cash box, it changed into a walking stick.

“I was shocked and I fainted only to be resuscitated after an hour after my sister came through. All in all we lost more than US$100,” she added.

People thronged the mart to catch a glimpse of the walking stick and this compelled a certain prophet to confiscate the stick and later burn it in demonstration of his power.

This strange incident follows hot in the heels of another ‘spooky’ incident where naked women were caught in Budiriro amid revelations that they fell from a winnowing basket. The matter is however, before the courts.

This particular one was not reported to the police, according to the shop owner and the teen shopkeeper.

There are however, genuine fears that some prophets are stage managing these bizarre incidents to try and win congregants amid the rapid increase in miracle churches in the country. H Metro
