Gutu on why MDC-T has gone to court

Whether or not the Presidential and other election-related applications and petitions will succeed in the Zimbabwe courts is not the issue. 

The main issue is to lay bare, to everyone concerned, the unassailable fact that the July 31,2013 harmonised elections were thoroughly compromised and therefore, that they don’t pass the test of freeness, fairness and legitimacy.

Those people who think that the MDC has adopted the wrong strategy are, in my respectful opinion, completely missing the point.

We are on the ground in Zimbabwe and we are acutely aware of the compelling need to always remain focused and strategic in our approach to unsettling the dictatorship using peaceful, lawful, democratic and constitutional means.
