The “Mai Huni” singer was attacked by a three-member gang on his way to the shops in Highfield. Already, some of his fans thought he was left for dead following the incident. The dreadlocked singer also dispelled rumours of his death.

“I am very much alive. In fact, I am strong like a lion,” he said.

Narrating his ordeal, King Shaddy – whose real name is Shadreck Kwirire – said he could have been beaten into a pulp had the assailants not recognised him.

“Vaida kutondiuraya nekuti vanga vandibata ndisina chinhu (They wanted to kill me because I wasn’t carrying any valuables). I had left my phone and wallet in the car with Junior King. All I had on me were the trotters I had bought and the US$3 change so they were furious because they expected more,” he said.

“One of the guys realised that it was me and they then apologised before taking to their heels.”

King Shaddy sustained head injuries.

“I want to tell my fans that I am well and please do not trust people because of their dressing,” he said.
