Revellers were awash with the allegations following a speech by Minister of Tourism and Hospitality, Engineer Walter Mzembi warning Peter to be wary of women. At the album launch, there were concerns that Monica was all over Peter Moyo.

This revived talk that she might be sexually harassing the upcoming singer.

Monica shed tears as she narrated how she is meeting Tongai Moyo in dreams whenever she thinks of dumping Utakataka Express band.

“I have been with this band since Tonagi Moyo’s time and people never raised those allegations, why now? And with such a person who is too young to be called my lover,” said Monica.

“It disturbs me much because those allegations affect my love life with my boyfriend for they will be affected as much as I am.

“People spreading those falsehoods want to see the downfall of Peter and I promise that I will never stop standing by Peter. He is my son not my lover.

“This is not the first time hearing such allegations and I could read people’s faces as I consulted Peter at the high table before the launch at Zim Cafe.

“There was a time I thought of quitting but Tonagi Moyo visits me in dreams whenever I think of quitting being with Utakataka Expresss.

“Such allegations are being raised by people who were surprised by the success of the album launch and truly we made a killing there. There is nothing that I do without consulting Peter’s mother and she is here to explain better about it,” said Monica referring the writer to Peter’s biological mother.

Monica confirmed visiting Peter’s room after the show saying there is nothing sinister about her visit to the hotel room.

“What is wrong with my visit to Peter’s room? Only dirty minds think otherwise but as for me I am not desperate to abuse such young blood that I see as my son,” she added.

Peter Moyo’s mother Getrude Chirwa (42) said that Peter is still too young to marry and those eyeing him must give him time.

“Do you know that Peter is only 23 years old and is my one and only child and I expect people to fully support him other than hurting him with such falsehoods,” said Getrude.

“Monica is like my sister and she consults me on many things she does that involve Peter when I am tied with work.

“She is with us here and Peter’s grandparents are all with us here: Gogo Chihera and Gog Chirwa after coming to grace Peter’s first album launch.

“It is true that I like to be with a daughter in-law but Peter is the one who said that I must not expect his marriage until he is 30 years old. His reasons are to first shape the band and complete construction buildings he is working on before marriage and I cannot force him.

“Monica is working well with Peter and I have never suspected them or seen anything to show that they are in love. She must not be pushed by people to go against Peter,” said Getrude.

Getrude thanked Executive Hotel management for accommodating Peter’s family that includes her mother Gogo Florence Chirwa (67), the late Tongai Moyo’s mother Gogo Esther Munikwa (81), Peter’s niece Anna Jamanda and the Utakataka Express band members. H Metro
