Messenger of Court attaches BancABC property

HARARE – Property worthy millions of dollars belonging to BancABC has been attached by the Messenger of Court over a $10 million debt.

There was commotion at the BancABC headquarters in Mount Pleasant on Wednesday morning as the bank tried to move out some of the attached vehicles while the Messenger of Court employees were trying to block the move.

In a typical real life drama, the bank tried to sneak away an Isuzu twin cab but officials from the Messenger of Court gave chase and blocked it.

Even the bank’s clients who had finished their business at the bank also clashed with officials from the Messenger of Court who were trying to verify if vehicles leaving the premises did not belong to the financial institution.

Some sources say by the time the Messenger of Court arrived, the bank had already removed some of the vehicles to avoid them being confiscated. BancABC owes Mackey Diamonds $10 million.

The two parties took each other to court where the case was being held in camera. BancABC however lost the case and a Supreme Court order to execute property of the bank was issued. ZBC News
