HARARE – Big Brother Africa Amplified (2011) co-winner Wendall Parson, who faces allegations of US$23 750 fraud charges in a suspected car insurance scam, has been granted bail.

Wendall (25) appeared before Harare magistrate Don Ndirowei on Monday and as part of his bail conditions, he was ordered to reside at his given address, to report once every Friday at the CID serious frauds and not to interfere with witnesses in the matter.
The big brother star will be back in court on June 3. The State led by prosecutor Tungamirai Chakurira, alleges that on March 16, Wendall’s brother William was involved in an accident while driving the former’s Ford Ranger.
It is claimed that the accident was reported at Borrowdale Police Station and on the day in question, Wendall’s vehicle was not insured. After the accident, Wendall plotted with William to defraud Alliance Insurance Pvt Ltd.
On March 18, it is said that William went to the insurance brokers where he applied for an insurance of the Ford Ranger together with two other trailers and he insured the vehicle with comprehensive insurance.
A few days after insuring the vehicle, it is said that Wendall filed the insurance claim and attached fraudulent documents purporting that the accident had occurred on March 28, knowing fully that he was lying as it had occurred on March 16.
The insurance company processed the claim and Wendall was to be given US$23 750 for the vehicle.
Indications are that before Wendall was given the money, the insurance risk department made some investigations and discovered that the accident had occurred before the car was insured.
Wendall was arrested last Friday when he had gone to Alliance Insurance in a bid to collect the money.
