HARARE – Self-proclaimed Zimbabwean ‘prophet’ Emmanuel Makandiwa has claimed that most people who go to his United Family International Church (UFIC) and want to be his ‘spiritual’ sons are only interested in money.

Makandiwa also revealed that “a certain pastor came to me requesting to be my son, I accepted his request though I knew that he was dangerous to work with.
“Within a short space of time he began to make various monetary requests. It is evident that people are looking for fathers for the wrong reasons. It is high time that we revisit our definitions, submission is not what we are doing, humility.
“When I go to my father and I take his shoes and I am polishing his shoes and washing his clothes, myself being a son to him, what you see me doing I am not humbling myself but doing what I am supposed to be doing as a son.
“Humility is when my father takes my shoes and he is polishing them. But when a son goes to the father and does what he is supposed to be doing it is not humility but it is an obligation,” Makandiwa said.
The flamboyant preacher also claimed:
“There are people here who love me so much, but you hate your parents for no reason, it doesn’t matter how many times I bless you it won’t work for you not because your parents are witches but it’s simply because it’s a law of God.
“Honour your Father and Mother then you will live long. Certain laws and principles have to be followed. Some of the things we pray for God never said we should pray for. Where is your Father and mother right now and what is happening to them,” he asked his congregates at the weekend.
In the same sermon Makandiwa said:
“There was a time when my spiritual father was here and there were some ladies that were cooking for him doing a wonderful job for seven days.
“When my father finished ministering and as he prepared to leave for the airport those ladies that used to cook for him came to bid farewell he then gave those ladies wads of cash.
“As we drove to the airport I began to speak to my wife in vernacular language regarding the blunder that those ladies had done because they were not supposed to receive that money, that money had over ridden the blessing that they were entitled to receive and it was similar to them being given tips in a hotel as waiters.
“I then asked my wife to reimburse our father with the same amount of money and after she took out that money I just dropped the money into his bag without telling him because we understand spiritual laws,” he said.
