A Harare magistrate has ruled that the Marondera man who reportedly stabbed his wife after he found her in her former husband’s room is not a proper candidate for bail.
Magistrate Don Ndirowei said this while dismissing Paradzai Pardon Mandikisi’s bail application in the matter in which he is facing physical abuse charges against his wife Patience Billiard (23).
The court said that there was high risk that Paradzai (26) would interfere with the witness (Patience) and it was added that the likelihood of conviction could be an inducement for him to abscond the court’s jurisdiction. Paradzai will be back in court on April 22 and he will be in custody.
State led by prosecutor Tungamirai Chakurira had opposed Paradzai being granted bail, saying it would not be in the interest of justice if he (Paradzai) was to be remanded out of custody.
The State led prosecutor Chakurira alleges that on March 31, Paradzai followed his wife Patience to Masvosve Village, her former husband’s homestead. It is said that Patience wanted to go and take her son for the holidays from her former husband’s residence.
Reports are that when Paradzai arrived at the homestead he found his wife in her former hubby’s room and this incensed him (Paradzai) and he grabbed Patience and pulled her outside. It is said that Paradzai then took a knife and went on to stab Patience once on the back.
The State says that Patience is still admitted at Parirenyatwa Hospital and a medical report will be produced as an exhibit. The knife which was used to stab Patience was found at the scene with fresh blood and will also be produced as an exhibit.
