Pallbearers carried the coffin from his home to a shopping complex near Stodart Hall, in memory of the places he used to hang around. Tizora’s mother, Gogo Bonda, said that despite her son being a drunkard, he was a respectful and peace loving man.

She revealed that Tizora did not have any physical ailment but at times experienced bouts of mental illness. “He was a mental patient. He could drink but he was not violent and still respected me as his mother.

“On the day in question, he asked me for a dollar for him to drink and I gave him. He left but unfortunately that was his demise. He used to go out for drinks and could return home early but on this day he took time to return.

“Later on, a certain guy came here and advised us that he had passed on. We rushed to the scene and he indeed had died,” she narrated.

Scores of reckless imbibers have fallen prey to abusing illicit brews and lately police have announced a clampdown on vendors selling that type of brandy.
