Deborah Takawira, a consultant with AWIDE told Nehanda Radio that in an effort to expand their operations the organisation has opened an office in Harare to try and link Harare women farmers with markets.

“The overall goal of AWIDE programmes is to empower women by enhancing their capacity to effectively utilise locally available resources to develop their communities and reduce poverty,” Takawira said.

She said AWIDE has been able to initiate what is proving to be successful market linkage programmes which in 2011 were expanded to four districts in Matabeleland South. HIVOS and Footballs for Fun (a UK charity) have been assisting the project.

Those who want to participate can visit the AWIDE Harare offices at 158 Fife Avenue on the 9th and 10th of February. Close to Fife Avenue Shopping Centre. Time: 9am to 5pm . For more details call: Tel:+263776904597.
