Popular revolutionary musician, Dickson ‘Cde Chinx’ Chingaira, is embroiled in bitter house ownership wrangle with his step son. The Chitungwiza house at the centre of the row belonged to Cde Chinx’s late wife Catherine Mazuru, the mother of his step son Brian Bizayi (31).

Bizayi said the house belonged to his late mother and father Patrick Bizayi. He also said the estate was registered in his late mother’s name not Cde Chinx.

“The estate was purchased by my late father as a core-house and my mother developed it with her own money because she was a cross-border trader. The house is registered in my mother’s name as you can see from these council papers,” he said while referring to the water bills.

Bizayi accused Cde Chinx of collecting rentals at the seven-roomed house and neglecting water and electricity bills resulting in them accruing. The water bill is at $830 and the electricity bill is staggering at $1,169.49.

“He is collecting rentals from most of the rooms. I only have two rooms, the one I stay in and the other one I collect rentals from. He has not paid anything towards rates and now the bills have ballooned. I think he has fallen on hard times and surviving on the rentals because when he is not there his wife will come and collect the money,” he said.

He said that he had since registered the estate and was made the co-owner of the house together with his half brother, Gainlaw Chingaira, who is Cde Chinx biological son with his (Bizayi’s) mother.

“Following the death of my mother in 1996, we registered the estate and I was made the co-owner of the house with my step-brother Gainlaw,” he said. Cde Chinx confirmed the wrangle with his step-son saying Bizayi was plotting to take away the house he built with his wife.

“I looked after the boy, sent him to school and he is trying to claim ownership of the house I built with my wife. I am the surviving spouse. I married his mother and took care of him, mwana wekumusana, you know we are communists unlike others.

“He secretly went to the courts and I was summoned and attended the court. He claims it is his father’s house, he is just a child and doesn’t know anything,” said Cde Chinx.

Cde Chinx added: “I let him stay at the house, now he is married and has his own family at the house. I have all the documents which I can show you after the Heroes holiday.

“Just write about the gala then I will furnish you with all the details. If you write the story now you will never get an interview from me,” he said. H Metro
