Teclar Mazanhi, the Zimbabwean Big Brother StarGame housemate returned home yesterday following her eviction from the continental reality show early this week.
The distraught Teclar (31) — who amassed zero country votes, making her the worst performing Zimbabwean housemate since the launch of the show in 2003 — shied away from cameras and refused to talk to the Press.
She tried to evade photographers, but was cornered before jumping into a car and speeding off from the Harare International Airport. There was no welcoming crowd serve for a few of her relatives. It wasn’t a homecoming fit for the royal she passed herself to be in her imaginary Kingdom of Zamunda.
She made history by becoming the first Zimbabwean housemate to last only seven days of the 91 days of the show. Until this season, all Zimbabwean housemates had lasted at least the first month of the show. The worst performance had been by Kristal Culverwell who lasted 49 days in the 2009 season dubbed “Big Brother Africa: The Revolution.”
Oddly enough, Teclar’s performance was the exact opposite of her 21-year old step sister and partner in the game Maneta who bagged eight country votes, including Zimbabwe. Zimbabweans will now pin their hopes on Maneta and Roki, who is holding his own with his sense of humour, charisma and of course carefree attitude.
Teclar rankled her countrymen on her first night in the house when she got so drunk on champagne, discussed her sexual fantasies including her wish for “a boob-job” as her birthday present.
From the outset, Teclar presented herself as somebody with so much insecurities and she created imaginary characters, especially after having one too many. Teclar is a single mother who is reading for a degree.
Her favourite place in Zimbabwe is Nyanga and she says the best thing about Africa is that “it’s a beautiful continent full of uncountable opportunities”. Teclar has a mentor, whom she stayed with for five years and said taught her a lot about business, the importance of working hard and how to look after herself.
Inspired to enter Big Brother StarGame with her step-sister Maneta by former housemate Karen, her fans, her classmates and her family, Teclar says she will do anything to win — except if it harms her integrity.
According Big Brother website, Teclar described herself “as friendly, entertaining, fun and cunning and had promised viewers fireworks, loads of dance, music, great comedy and plenty of extreme entertainment.”
