Chitungwiza man stabbed girlfriend 15 times

A 24 year old Chitungwiza man, who reportedly fatally stabbed his girlfriend 15 times in the chest and fled with her undergarments, yesterday appeared in court facing murder charges. Prichard Zimondi of Unit K, Seke, was not asked to plead to the charge when he appeared before Chitungwiza magistrate Ms Barbra Chimboza.

He was remanded in custody to May 10. The magistrate advised him to apply for bail at the High Court due to the seriousness of the offence. He was represented by lawyer Mr Norman Mugiya. Zimondi complained that police did not give him enough time to talk to his lawyer and that he was struck by the deceased’s aunt with a log when he went to the house for indications.

Allegations against Zimondi arose on Tuesday this week at house Number 7621 in the suburb when he had a misunderstanding with his girlfriend Monalisa Chinomona (19). It is alleged that on the fateful day, he went over to Chinomona’s place where she was alone in her bedroom.

He reportedly entered the house unnoticed, headed to the kitchen and armed himself with a kitchen knife. Zimondi went to where Chinomona was sleeping and stabbed her with the knife 15 times on her left breast. After the act, he reportedly left the knife stuck on the deceased’s breast and ran away.

He was later caught in Harare while trying to flee to Gweru. It is alleged that Zimondi had Chinomona’s pant and bra on him.
