Moses is convinced it was Mutodi who lit his car, an Isuzu TDI 300Ex in the early hours of last Saturday. Moses told H-Metro that their rivalry has been prompted by the fact that his business is flourishing as compared to Mutodi’s.

Mutodi, who confirmed that he is Moses’ neighbour, spit venom when contacted for comment.

“Well, I cannot comment. If he thinks I am the one who burnt his car, he has to report the matter to the police. All I can say is that when I saw his car being towed away, I told him that it could have been the battery that over-heated and caused the inferno,” said Mutodi.

Narrating his ordeal, a tearful Moses said:

“What happened is that last Saturday I was at home with my wife, and at around 1:30am we heard something that sounded like tyre burst. When we went outside where our car was parked we discovered that it was already on fire. We failed to put off the raging fire.

“When I looked around, I saw four men standing near Mutodi’s gate and I suspect he (Mutodi) had instructed them to burn my car. When we asked them to assist us in putting out the fire, they refused.

“I was shocked the following day when Mutodi provoked me saying he wished if my car had been burnt beyond recognition,” he said. Moses also claimed that there is BAD BLOOD between him and Mutodi ever since he started staying in that neighbourhood.

“There has always been tension between Mutodi and I. He has confronted me on several occasions since I started staying in the neighbourhood saying all sorts of bad things.

“We are in the same line of business of developing land and selling stands and he feels threatened as my business is flourishing. I started four months ago but I am already a force to reckon with in that sector. We are offering better housing schemes than his company,” he said. Meanwhile, the matter is being handled at Borrowdale Police Station. H Metro
