Headman Rwisai Nyakauru who is 82 years old was last month arrested, tortured and imprisoned for attending an MDC rally addressed by Nyanga North MP Douglas Mwonzora. He was released this month on the same day as Mwonzora after spending 25 days in police custody.

Also in custody with him was 75 year old grandmother, Evangelist Machirita.
Scores of senior army and police took over operations at Nyanga Police Station in Manicaland province, where the 25 MDC activists were being held. Mwonzora meanwhile was arrested outside the Parliament building in Harare.
Some of the state security agents who took over operations at the Nyanga Police Station are Inspector Chipangura from Mutare’s Law and Order Section, Colonel Lancelot Sanyatwa who said he was from the President’s Office and Sergeant Major Chemusingareve.
The three led other State security agents in interrogating the MDC members.
Harare South MP, Hubert Nyanhongo whose vehicles were used in disrupting a rally that was being addressed by Mwonzora was spotted driving up and down the police station in a pickup truck full of Zanu PF youths.
Nyanga Police Station officer in charge, Inspector Mayenga and his juniors were been told not to take any part in the arrests.
