Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai and ICT Minister Nelson Chamisa console Tongai Moyo after the death of his wife.

The ‘Samanyemba’ and ‘Naye’ star is reported to be battling non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a cancer which affects cells in the lymphatic system. The non-Hodgkin lymphomas (NHLs) are a diverse group of blood cancers that vary significantly in their severity, from indolent to very aggressive.

The latest treatment setback for Moyo adds to a miserable run of months which saw his wife commit suicide in May last year. Barbara Muchengeti died at Kwekwe General Hospital after taking poison following a domestic dispute. Things took a bad turn when Moyo invited his younger wife to stay with them.

Moyo’s new album Toita Basa is still the top selling record at Gramma Records and reflects on his battle with cancer. Last year he took a public HIV test to kill off rumours that he was in fact battling the illness. The singer is said to have test negative for the HIV virus according to the journalist who accompanied him. Nehanda Radio.com
