Dynamos edge past FC Victoria

Dynamos……. (0)1 FC Victoria……….. 0

Harare giants Dynamos rode on their luck to leave Rufaro with maximum points after a controversial penalty by centre back Guthrie Zhokinyu earned them a Premiership win they barely deserved against a determined FC Victoria yesterday.

A draw would have been the fairest result in this encounter. But at the end of the day, it was Dynamos who came out with maximum points that helped them close the gap between them and leaders Motor Action to just a point.

Zhokinyu fired home the disputed penalty in the 24th minute sending the visitor’s goalkeeper Dzingai Murinye the wrong way after Harare referee Ruzive Ruzive harshly adjudged that FC Victoria defender Partson Sinamai had fouled Eddie Mashiri in the box.

Once again the match attracted a poor crowd of about 3 000 fans, a scenario that will not improve Dynamos’ coffers. Dynamos are in the red and need US$85 000 to travel to Algeria for the Champions League reserve fixture against Entete Setif next week.

Bantu Rovers……..0 CAPS United…………(0)1

Sometimes one needs luck in a game of football and that is exactly what Bantu Rovers ought to have had as they dominated CAPS United only to lose to a late strike from Courage Denias in a Premiership match at Hartsfield yesterday. The goal was scored two minutes before full-time in a match played before an appreciative crowd.

Even though head coach Gift Lunga says they will fight to avoid relegation, it is becoming almost clear with each outing that the inevitable is nigh, unless they start appreciating that football is all about scoring, especially if you are in control of proceedings, territorially.

Teams:

Bantu Rovers: L. Chirava, D. Ndlovu, H. Dick, K. Mahachi, K. Sibanda, E. Dube, K. Moyo (M. Moyo 59th minute), D. Phiri, A. Tshuma, J. Ngodzo (R. Choruma 84th minute), P. Zireni (M. Nyokanhete 76th minute)

CAPS United: I. Chiwara, K. Adu (G. Mangani, 81st minute), S. Alimenda, E. Chafungamoyo (C. Kawinga, 30th minute), C. Denias, G. Mapemba, N Mukumbi, N Khanye (D. Fourpence 58th minute), M. Samaneka, D. Sengu, D. Walaza.
