Rap mogul P Diddy apologises for “inexcusable” assault on Cassie

Rap mogul P Diddy has apologised for his assault on his former girlfriend Cassie Ventura, describing the incident that was caught on camera as inexcusable.

The apology came two days after CNN published exclusive hotel surveillance video from 2016 in which Combs appeared to grab, shove, drag and kick her.

“My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video,” he said in a video statement posted on Instagram.

“I was disgusted then when I did it. I’m disgusted now,” he added.

“I went and I sought out professional help. I got into going to therapy, going to rehab. I had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I’m so sorry. But I’m committed to be a better man each and every day. I’m not asking for forgiveness. I’m truly sorry.”

The 54-year-old, whose homes in Los Angeles and Miami were stormed by Homeland Security Investigations agents in March, has faced a series of public allegations of physical and sexual violence.

In the past, Diddy also disputed allegations that he had abused Cassie, despite making massive payouts to the singer after a court settlement last November.

Meredith Firetog, an attorney for Cassie, said in a statement on Sunday that they did not believe that Diddy’s apology was sincere.

“Combs’ most recent statement is more about himself than the many people he has hurt. When Cassie and multiple other women came forward, he denied everything and suggested that his victims were looking for a payday.

“That he was only compelled to ‘apologize’ once his repeated denials were proven false shows his pathetic desperation, and no one will be swayed by his disingenuous words.” Daily Mast
