Former Zanu PF Hurungwe East MP Sarah Mahoka died in a head on collision on Thursday, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Nick Mangwana confirmed.
The fledgling National Patriotic Front (NPF), which has received the public backing of ousted former leader Robert Mugabe — its alleged godfather — has now all but confirmed that its leadership corps will be fronted by members of Zanu PF’s vanquished Generation 40 (G40) faction.
Parliament yesterday expelled eleven Zanu-PF legislators after the ruling party notified the august House that they no longer represented their interests. This brings the number of Zanu-PF MPs that have been expelled from Parliament to 16 after five other legislators were ejected last month.
At least eight more Zanu-PF Members of Parliament are set to be ejected from Parliament after the ruling party’s Extraordinary Congress held last Friday adopted a Central Committee report recommending their expulsion, together with 12 other party members.
Zanu PF political commissar Saviour Kasukuwere, who has been facing a series of charges — including treason — is now off the hook.
The ruling party has developed cold feet on its pronouncements about two months ago that it would press criminal charges against former women’s league executive members, Eunice Sandi-Moyo and Sarah Mahoka on allegations of abusing their respective offices.
