‘Our family has given her the blessings to have a new husband’ – Senzo Meyiwa’s widow to remarry
SOUTH AFRICA – The family of slain South African footballer, Senzo Meyiwa, has reportedly given his wife, Mandisa Mkhize the go-ahead to remarry, a month before the 10th anniversary of the Orlando Pirates star’s passing.
Meyiwa was shot and killed while he was relaxing with his then-girlfriend, Kelly Khumalo, at her family home on 26 October 2014. The pair had a child together.
It has been reported that at the time of his death, Meyiwa and Mkhize had marital problems because of the affair.
According to Zimoja, Mkhize, who also had a child with Meyiwa, recently fell head over heels with another man and signaled her intention to tie the knot. The Meyiwa family has not objected to her request.
“Mandisa will be getting married soon. She has a new partner and our family has given her the blessings to have a new husband,” said a source close to the Meyiwas.
According to the source, Mandisa had remained close with Meyiwa’s mother who had always expressed her disappointment at her brother’s infidelity.
“She still calls Mandisa her Makoti (bride). She feels let down that Senzo found love elsewhere just before their white wedding.
“Senzo had paid the full lobola for Mandisa. He even did umembeso for Mandisa’s family. Senzo’s mother has given Mandisa her full blessings to move on,” the source said.
Called for comment Meyiwa’s mother, who is set to attend the wedding, refused to shed light on the matter.
I would rather not talk about that,” she said.
