Jamaican reggae star Jah Cure, who will perform for the first time in Zimbabwe tonight at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC), has promised a memorable concert.
The King of Lovers Rock and Roots Reggae will share the stage with local stars Winky D, Trevor Dongo, Transit Crew, Judgement Yard and Templeman.
“I don’t force things but it just comes from the head. I don’t get into studio with a pen and paper but it comes out naturally,” the Jamaican star told journalists at a Harare hotel on Wednesday.
The Call on Me singer, who served a jail term in 1998, said his stint in prison made him a better artiste.
“When I got out of jail I was a better artiste. The way I went into prison was different from the way I got out. The experience taught me that no one can take away your greatness and mission as I am now here in Zimbabwe continuing with my mission,” said the celebrated star.
In an unusual development, 2 Kings Entertainment — the organisers of Jah Cure’s first concert in the country — asked music fans to select the supporting acts for tonight’s high profile gigs. The fans chose Winky D, Trevor Dongo, Transit Crew, Judgement Yard and Templeman.
The ninja president, who reportedly attracted the most votes, is determined to repay the fans’ faith in him.
“It will be nice and as you know I have a new album hence it will be fine,” Winky D who is also known as Winky D said.
Jah Cure’s concert comes barely a fortnight after Tanzanian Diamond Platnumz’s maiden concert in Zimbabwe which was also organised by 2 Kings Entertainment.
It will be interesting to see if the Jamaican star’s concert will match the big crowd that watched the Tanzanian music star’s show which also featured local favourite Jah Prayzah. Daily News
