Marshall Munetsi has officially rejoined the Zimbabwe national football team camp ahead of the upcoming Unity Cup in London, marking his return to the Warriors after months of uncertainty surrounding his international future.
The Wolverhampton Wanderers FC midfielder, currently on loan at Paris FC, was pictured in training on Friday following his recall by newly appointed interim coach Kaitano Tembo.
Zimbabwe are preparing for a four-team international tournament featuring Nigeria national football team, Jamaica national football team and India national football team.
The Warriors will begin their campaign against defending champions Nigeria on May 26, with the second fixture scheduled for either May 30 or May 31 depending on results.

Munetsi’s return comes after a difficult period in which the midfielder was effectively frozen out of the national team setup following a reported fallout with former coach Marian Mario Marinica.
The 29-year-old missed the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Morocco despite previously captaining the side and being regarded as one of Zimbabwe’s most influential players.
At the time, Munetsi publicly expressed disappointment over his omission, arguing that decisions regarding his fitness had been made too quickly after he suffered a calf injury while playing in the Premier League.
He said Wolves had informed the football association that he was recovering well and had even offered medical support to help him participate in AFCON.
“Unfortunately, I received no follow-up communication, and decisions were made without clarity,” Munetsi said in a social media statement last December.
Despite the setback, he maintained support for the national team and insisted representing Zimbabwe remained the greatest honour of his career.

Munetsi was also among senior players who publicly appealed for unity within Zimbabwean football administration during ongoing disputes affecting national team preparations.
Now back in camp, the midfielder said he was delighted to reunite with teammates ahead of the Unity Cup.
“It feels good, obviously. It’s been quite a while,” he told ZIFA media during training in Birmingham.
“I’m happy to see my brothers, my friends, my teammates.”
Munetsi added that the tournament offers an important opportunity to build chemistry within a squad that now includes several younger players and new faces.
“We have some fresh faces and I think it’s a good opportunity for us to get to know each other,” he said.
The midfielder last featured for Zimbabwe in October 2025 during the Warriors’ shock 1-0 World Cup qualifying defeat to Lesotho.
Since then, he has enjoyed improved form during his loan spell at Paris FC after struggling for regular opportunities at Wolves.
Munetsi also stressed that the Unity Cup should serve as preparation for the 2027 AFCON qualifiers beginning later this year.
“These games are important but what we’re looking for is also to prepare for the African qualifiers that are coming up,” he said.
The experienced midfielder urged younger players in the squad to seize the opportunity to impress scouts and build international careers.
“You never know who’s watching in the terraces,” Munetsi said.
“There will be scouts coming to look at how Zimbabwe is performing.”
Zimbabwe are guaranteed at least two matches in the tournament, with winners progressing to the final and losing semi-finalists contesting a third-place playoff.
