Controversial tenderpreneur Wicknell Chivayo’s former wife, Sonja Madzikanda, has made explosive claims that she was arrested over an alleged “compromising” video involving South African president Cyril Ramaphosa.
According to Madzikanda, Chivayo accused her of stealing an electronic device allegedly containing sensitive footage and photographs, including a video reportedly showing him meeting Ramaphosa before their publicly acknowledged encounter at Pricabe Farm in Kwekwe earlier this month.
The alleged existence of such footage could carry political implications because Ramaphosa’s office previously maintained that the South African leader was meeting Chivayo for the first time during the widely publicised visit to President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s farm.

Madzikanda claimed she was detained at Highlands Police Station after Chivayo opened a criminal complaint accusing her of stealing one of his devices.
In videos reportedly recorded from inside the police station, she alleged that the businessman had been circulating videos of himself with heads of state and using them to intimidate people.
“So this is the message to all presidents,” she said. “He sends around videos of him and heads of states threatening people.”
The allegations have intensified public speculation around Chivayo’s political connections and relationships with influential regional leaders.
Madzikanda also denied having access to the alleged device, arguing that Chivayo is heavily guarded and questioning how she could have obtained his phone while she had recently been travelling in China.
The controversy, however, also appears rooted in an escalating personal and custody dispute between the former couple.
According to Madzikanda, the arrest followed disagreements over access to their children during the recent school holiday period.
She claimed she had been denied time with the children on her birthday and later informed Chivayo that he could spend time with them while she travelled abroad.
Upon returning to Zimbabwe, she said she collected the children from school before police were allegedly called against her.
Madzikanda said Chivayo initially accused her of denying him access to the children before later filing a second complaint alleging theft of his electronic device.
She further alleged that the complaints formed part of broader efforts to pressure her amid ongoing tensions following the breakdown of their relationship.
At the time of publication, Chivayo had not publicly responded to the allegations.
The businessman has frequently attracted controversy over his lavish lifestyle, political links, and government-connected business dealings, making the latest allegations a major talking point on Zimbabwean social media.
