The family of US-based lifestyle influencer Ashly Jenae are calling for answers following her sudden death during a trip to Zanzibar.
The 31-year-old, who had built a strong online following, was found unconscious last month while staying at a luxury villa in Zanzibar with her fiancé, Joe McCann. The couple had recently become engaged during the trip.
According to reports, Jenae fell ill while at the resort and was taken to a nearby hospital, where she later died. Authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of death, prompting growing concern from her family.
In a statement shared on social media, relatives described the loss as sudden and deeply distressing, highlighting the lack of clear information surrounding the incident.
“One moment she was celebrating life and love, and the next she was gone,” the family said, adding that the absence of answers has made the tragedy even more difficult to process.
They urged the public to rely only on verified updates as investigations continue, warning against speculation and unconfirmed claims.
Jenae, who was based in Miami, had more than 71,000 followers on Instagram, where she shared lifestyle, fashion and personal content centred on positivity and what she described as a “soft life” philosophy.
Concerns have also been raised by those close to her about the limited official communication surrounding the case. A friend publicly questioned why there had been little response from authorities in both the United States and Tanzania in the days following her death.
Officials have since said their focus remains on gathering verified information, urging the public to avoid spreading unconfirmed reports. No autopsy or toxicology findings have yet been released.
