HARARE — Dynamos and Highlanders shared the points after a dramatic 2-2 draw in a lively Castle Lager Premier Soccer League clash at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday.

Highlanders took the lead in the 37th minute through Never Rauzhi, who finished with a precise left-footed effort from a tight angle to give Benjani Mwaruwari’s side a halftime advantage.

Dynamos levelled shortly after the restart when Tellmore Pio struck from distance. His long-range shot dipped awkwardly and slipped past Highlanders goalkeeper Reward Muza before nestling inside the right post.

Muza appeared to misjudge the flight of the ball, which bounced just in front of him and beat him, sparking celebrations among the home supporters.

The match was played at a lively tempo, with both sides showing greater attacking intent compared to their previous meetings last season when they struggled near the bottom of the table.

Highlanders restored their lead in the 77th minute after Dynamos goalkeeper Tatenda Makoni rushed off his line to challenge Mongameli Tshuma. Tshuma calmly evaded the goalkeeper and a defender before guiding the ball into an empty net.

Dynamos responded again late in the match. A free-kick taken near the corner flag was flicked towards goal by Collin Mujuru, with the ball finding its way into the net after glancing off Muza’s left hand.

Tempers briefly flared with five minutes remaining when Dynamos midfielder Shadreck Nyahwa challenged Tshuma, leading to a short confrontation between players from both teams.

The result moves Dynamos to four points in the standings, while Highlanders register their second draw of the season. Highlanders remain four points behind early leaders CAPS United, the only team yet to drop points.

Elsewhere, Bulawayo Chiefs secured a 1-0 away victory over Agama at Wadzanai Stadium in Shamva, with Melikhaya Ncube scoring the decisive goal in the 65th minute.
