HARARE – Three months after going public with a video announcing he had formed Zanu PF affiliate Musicians for ED, rapper Tinashe Gonzara, known as Ti Gonzi, has been sentended to 10 months in prison over drug possession charges.
Ti Gonzi, who chairs Musicians for ED, was intially arrested for violating traffic laws (driving past a red traffic light) before police searched his car and found prohibited drugs — Bron Cleer cough syrup and dagga.
The rapper went to court facing five counts and was fined US$100 for driving without a driver’s licence but it was the dagga possession that got him 10 months imprisonment.
It remains to be seen if the political powers that he was praising a few months ago will come to his rescue.
