HARARE – It’s only been three days since comedian and actress Mai TT uploaded her Nigerian movie, Lost in Ashes, on YouTube for all to see.
The movie premiered in September in Harare, with most of the Nollywood stars of the movie coming to the event.
The actress, born Felistas Murata, has warned against pirate channels that are posting with the intention of cashing in on her hard work.
She requested that her fans report and send links to all pirate channels sharing her movie without permission.
“Kindly send every YouTube link that shares my movie on their screens for money, remember I spent my 100,000 USD without their help,” said Mai TT.
She added, “I respect only my fans who are not bloggers who bought my movie and watched it again on YouTube. All these bloggers, I never saw them when I was marketing my premier, or talking good about me.”
The movie has been trending on social media with small teaser clips circulating online, prompting many to go watch it.
Within the first 48 hours of being uploaded on YouTube, the movie had already hit a record-breaking 400,000 views.
