HARARE – Controversial tenderpreneur Wicknell Chivayo has rewarded Scottland FC players and the technical team with a US$250,000 bonus after clinching the 2025 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) title.

Scottland, owned by gold baron Scott Sakupwanya, were crowned champions over the weekend with two games to spare after a dominant 5-1 victory over Kwekwe United at Ascot Stadium in Gweru on Sunday.

The win took them to an unassailable 65 points, seven clear of second-placed MWOS.

Taking to his social media platforms on Monday evening, Chivayo announced that he has invited Scottland team captain and manager to meet him personally on Saturday to collect what he described as “a small token” and “an early Christmas gift.”

“In recognition of this massive, history-breaking achievement and for your exemplary leadership and passion for the game of football, I invite the team captain and the team manager to come and see me personally on Saturday to collect US$250,000 as a small token of my appreciation and to share it with the entire team, the coach, and the technical staff.

“This is a well-deserved victory and an early Christmas gift to you,” Chivayo wrote.

Chivayo further pledged to continue investing in Scottland FC, saying he hopes to help the club become a dominant force not only in Zimbabwe but across the African continent.

In a light-hearted remark, he even joked that he hoped to see Scottland one day sign European stars such as Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland.

This marks the second time Chivayo has splashed out large sums on Scottland as part of winning bonuses apart from his initial US$1million sponsorship of the club.

During the season, Chivayo gifted the team a cash bonus after their emphatic 5-2 victory over FC Platinum at Mandava Stadium in Zvishavane, a result that proved pivotal in Scottland’s title charge.
