NAIROBI – Former Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta spoke emotionally during the memorial service for Frank Ireri, the late former Managing Director of Housing Finance Company of Kenya, who succumbed to cancer on October 28, 2025, aged 63.

In his tribute, Uhuru hinted at his own health struggles, reflecting on Ireri’s encouragement and guidance over the past year.

Uhuru mentioned that some among them, including himself, were still “fighting” health challenges, expressing faith in God’s timing for life and death. He emphasized gratitude for the life and moments shared with Ireri.

“I will miss that counsel. He held our hands and reminded us not to worry — that things would pass. He told us to trust in God and stay steady even in difficult times,” he said.

“Frank is lying here because it is his time. Those of us who still face our challenges will continue fighting, but when God’s time comes, we shall join him — grateful for the life we lived and the moments we shared,” he added.

Despite public speculation about Uhuru’s health, former Jubilee Digital Communications specialist Pauline Njoroge dismissed claims that he was critically ill, calling such reports fictional.

“Someone wakes up, as usual, creates a fictional story, and posts it on social media. But this time, it’s about someone’s health, claiming that the person is critically ill and, in the ICU,” she said.

No official medical updates have been released, but Kenyatta’s absence from public events has fueled ongoing attention and speculation.

Key Points:

Uhuru Kenyatta acknowledged personal health challenges indirectly while mourning a close friend.

He credited Frank Ireri for providing support and counsel in difficult times.

Official sources have denied claims of critical illness, though the lack of public appearances has drawn attention.

The tribute emphasized faith, resilience, and gratitude despite life’s uncertainties.

Contextual Takeaway:

Uhuru’s remarks appear to be more reflective and spiritual than a detailed disclosure of his health. While speculation persists, his message focused on life, mentorship, and trust in God rather than medical specifics.
