HARARE – Zimdancehall chanter Blot real name Takura Chiwoniso has been admitted into the Matrix Rehabilitation Centre after struggling with drug and substance abuse.
The move to send Blot into rehab was made by Prophet Kudakwashe Jose, who also vowed to help the singer rebuild his life.
Posting on his Facebook, Jose expressed his desire for a drug-free generation.
He wrote, “My desire is to see my generation free from drug abuse. This is why we took our dear brother Blot to the rehab centre, Matrix. I long to see my generation saying NO to drugs and YES to Jesus!”
The prophet went on to make a promise that he would get him a decent place to stay after his rehabilitation program.
“After rehab, we are planning to find decent accommodation for him and his family, and to support him with his projects that will help rebuild his life. This is not the end, it’s just the beginning,” Joe wrote.
Nehanda Radio reached out to Blot’s management, who also confirmed these developments.
Dumi, Blot’s manager, said, “Yes, it’s true, Blot has checked into rehab. I was with him in South Africa last week. He cried for help, and he told me that he would be going for rehab. I assured him that everything would be okay and also told him that his decision made me proud.”
In 2023, the musician was arrested for possessing 1.15g of Crystal Meth.
Blot rose to fame in 2016 with his song “Ndiri Bad” on the Stage Riddim by ChillSpot Records, becoming a highly sought-after Zimdancehall artist that year.
