MHONDORO – Ngezi Platinum Stars have reportedly suspended coach Takesure Chiragwi, effectively ending his 2025 Premier Soccer League (PSL) campaign.
Chiragwi’s suspension follows an incident of violent conduct, in which he slapped player McDonald Makuwe, who was trying to calm him down after he was shown a straight red card for protesting a referee’s decision.
The incident occurred during last week’s 1-1 draw between Ngezi Platinum Stars and Dynamos, just before the international break.
According to reports, Chiragwi has been suspended for three matches, with four games remaining in the 2025 season.
Sources indicate that Madamburo, as Ngezi are affectionately known, have appointed assistant coach Kumbirayi Mutiwekuziwa as interim coach during Chiragwi’s absence.
However, Ngezi communications officer Roberta Katunga remained tight-lipped on the issue.
Her comment to Zimpapers Sports Hub read: “We are unable to comment on this matter at this stage as it is pending a PSL disciplinary hearing.
“We respect the league’s processes and will await the outcome before making any further statements.”
Chiragwi has since issued a public apology to the football fraternity and recused himself from national team duty following the incident.
