Zimdancehall artist Malloti Rose arrested after spat with Prophet Passion Java
HARARE – Zimdancehall artist Malloti Rose is once again in trouble after she was arrested for reportedly cyberbullying controversial cleric Passion Java.
Malloti, real name Millicent Chimonyo (26), appeared in court on Thursday before Harare Magistrate Tapiwa Kuhudzayi.
She was granted US$100 bail and ordered to report to the police once a fortnight until her case is finalised.
The controversial socialite was also ordered to continue residing at her given address and not to interfere with state witnesses.
Recently, Malloti had some choice words for the ruling party-aligned prophet, including a viral post in which she chastised him for not providing a vehicle to musician Jnr Spragga, despite praising him.
The State alleges that on May 14, Malloti recorded a video of herself uttering unprintable words about Java’s involvement in Zimdancehall music.
“The said utterances by the accused person were in violation of the law,” reads the State outline.
This is not the first time that Malloti has found herself in trouble with the law.
In 2023, she was arrested as she left the Star FM studios after she allegedly stole 56 men’s jeans, 49 T-shirts, 22 jogger pants, 35 pairs of men’s sneakers and 20 summer shirts from a store in Harare.
Earlier this year, it was revealed that Malloti had been on a South African Police Services (SAPS) wanted list since 2017.
According to SAPS records, a warrant of arrest for one Namatai Bhobho was issued on January 19, 2018, at the Wynberg Magistrate Court in South Africa.
The warrant requires her to be arrested and brought before the court on charges of armed robbery.
