Although an official cause of death is yet to be released, TMZ reported he experienced “cardiac arrest.”
Taking to Instagram, Sky posted a heartfelt tribute after his death, revealing that Hogan had been suffering from health issues, but she had been confident he would recover.
“I wasn’t ready for this… and my heart is in pieces,” she wrote. “He had been dealing with some health issues, but I truly believed we would overcome them. I had so much faith in his strength. I thought we still had more time.”
“To the world, he was a legend… but to me, he was my Terry. The man I loved. My partner. My heart.”
She ended her tribute with a call for privacy and prayer; “He was a believer in Christ, and I take comfort knowing his soul is at peace and he’s been welcomed home. Please keep his family and all of us who loved him in your prayers as we try to navigate this new reality.”
One report by the Daily Mail quoted a source who revealed that Hogan suffering was from “shortness of breath, got tired easily, had lost a lot of weight and was on oxygen.”
It’s also reported he had recently undergone major heart surgery.
Police on Thursday morning responded to call from Hogan’s Clearwater, Florida, home and they said they found him “experiencing a serious medical issue.”
Born Terry Gene Bollea, Hogan is considered one of the greatest wrestlers of all time and managed to break into Hollywood as an actor and reality television personality.
