Must Try

CHISUMBANJE – Greenfuel forward Ronald ‘Rooney’ Chitiyo has stressed the importance of thorough preparations ahead of their upcoming clash with Premier Soccer League (PSL) log leaders MWOS, who remain unbeaten 12 rounds into the 2025 campaign.

Acknowledging the strength of their opponents, Chitiyo remains confident that Greenfuel will pose a serious challenge when MWOS travel to Chisumbanje this Saturday.

The match will be played at the Greenfuel Arena.

Kick off time at 3pm.

“It’s a very difficult game considering MWOS are unbeaten and currently top of the table,” said Chitiyo.

“But we will prepare well for them. We’ll approach this game with the same focus and intensity we bring to every match as we aim to win this tricky encounter.”

What’s exciting about this fixture is the return of MWOS coach Lloyd Mutasa to Chisumbanje.

Mutasa is the one who guided Greenfuel to promotion and his return adds an emotional subplot to the match.

Greenfuel head into the clash on a high, having secured a morale boosting 1-0 away win over Chicken Inn on Saturday, their first victory against the Gamecocks since joining the top flight in 2023.

“Winning away from home is never easy, so I’m very happy for the team. “I’m even more excited to learn that this was our first victory over Chicken Inn since our promotion,” added Chitiyo.

Chitiyo, who joined Greenfuel at the start of the season as a free agent after parting ways with Malawian giants Nyasa Big Bullets, expressed satisfaction with both the result and his new surroundings.

“So far, so good. From day one, the reception has been excellent. I truly appreciate the love and support from the executive and, most importantly, the fans,” said the ex-Dynamos, CAPS United, and Monomotapa attacking midfielder.

He also urged the Greenfuel supporters to continue turning out in numbers, especially when they are playing at home.

“We need our supporters the most during home matches. Ngavauye ku ground to support their team,” he pleaded.

Greenfuel’s win lifted them to 9th place on the log with 16 points from 12 matches.

They now trail MWOS by 10 points, following the log leaders’ dominant 4-0 victory over Kwekwe United on Saturday.
