KWEKWE – Confederation of African Football (CAF) stadium expert Muhammad Feizal Sidat on Friday, assessed Prophet Walter Magaya’s Chahwanda Stadium in Kwekwe.
Sidat, the continental body’s former Head of Professional Football, who arrived in Zimbabwe earlier this week to assess the renovations at the National Sports Stadium visited Chahwanda Stadium to offer his expertise and guide contractors in the construction of the new facility.
Sidat, who now serves as a stadium consultant after leaving CAF a few months ago, applauded the Chahwanda Stadium (Heart Main) which is currently under construction, being spearheaded by Magaya in partnership with his close associate Shepherd Chahwanda.
“From our side, we are satisfied with this project. We hope in the coming period of time, we hope this stadium can get approval from CAF for either national teams or club competitions,” Sidat said.
He also commended the construction of the dressing room and the media tribune.
Among the delegation in Kwekwe were Brighton Ushendibaba, the ZIFA board member responsible for infrastructure development, Magaya and members of the ZIFA First Instance Board.
At the National Sports Stadium, Sidat conducted an assessment of the renovations on Thursday.
These include installation of bucket seats, electronic turnstiles, modern dressing rooms, medical facilities and anti-doping rooms.
This visit is part of a preliminary evaluation ahead of a full CAF inspection scheduled for July.
