South African President Cyril Ramaphosa will be hosting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the Union Buildings in Pretoria on Thursday, 24 April 2025.
According to the South African government “the visit provides South Africa and Ukraine with an opportunity to discuss bilateral relations and expand bilateral cooperation in the areas of Trade, Agriculture and Education.
“It will also explore areas of cooperation with the objective to support efforts to bring lasting peace.”
On Thursday, Ramaphosa is expected to receive Zelenskyy at the Union Buildings, followed by a closed session of official talks between the presidents before they brief the media.
During a briefing on Tuesday, Zelenskyy said “Ukraine will greatly strengthen its diplomatic work in the coming days, not only on the European continent. There will be a meeting with President Ramaphosa, who chairs the G20.
“There will be a meeting with the President of Poland in the format of the Three Seas Summit in Poland. There will be a meeting with the President of the Czech Republic.”
Zelenskyy also announced a meeting with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and he will also join other world leaders to officially take part in the farewell to Pope Francis.
