HARARE – Property Handle Africa CEO Rangarirai Mushonga was left counting her losses after a spiritual healer took US$100 000 from her under the pretext that her money needed cleansing.
Mushonga was reportedly introduced to the healer, Modesta Simakani, by her sister in law.
According to H-Metro, Mushonga was led to believe that a spirit was blocking her path to prosperity, with the only way to reportedly cure this “ailment” being for her to surrender her earnings to Simakani, who would then cleanse it on her behalf.
Under this arrangement, Mushonga paid US$100 000 through Mukuru Mobile Money Transfer, Innbucks and Ecocash to Simakani.
Throughout this entire period, Mushonga believed that she was on a path to future prosperity.
Things came to a head when she contacted Simakani for the return of her money but was only met by excuses by her trusted healer.
Simakani also reportedly became elusive, leading to Mushonga filing a police report.
The year is 2025, and anyone with ability to make 100k should be much smarter than this. Being duped like this in the era of AI is pathetic and embarrassing.
