HARARE – Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa, the leader of the United Family International Church (UFIC), has issued a public challenge to prophets, traditional healers, and anyone claiming spiritual powers, offering a US$1 million cash reward for a successful demonstration of their abilities.
Addressing his congregation last Sunday, Makandiwa proposed a simple test: he would place an object in his pocket, and anyone who could accurately identify the object would receive the substantial cash prize.
He emphasised the transparency of the challenge, stating he would sign a legally binding agreement with the winner.
“If there is a witch doctor who can see, who gets to hear things from demons. I can arrange that you come here on Sunday,” Makandiwa stated.
“I won’t do anything difficult. I will put something in my pocket. The one who can tell me what is in my pocket. I will go and borrow US$1 million, and in front of all these people, we sign. We will sign an agreement where you will sue me.
“I will stand here and ask you,’What is it that is in my pocket? Whether you’re a false or true prophet, this is your opportunity to rise.
“It means with US$1 million, you will be able to buy a stand for the church and PA System. I’m ready.” the UFIC founder said.
The challenge quickly drew responses from other prominent Zimbabwean religious figures especially Prophet Passion Java who countered Makandiwa’s offer with a significantly larger challenge of his own.
“On Saturday, Mr. Makandiwa, I will bring a person with mobility impairment. If you manage to make them walk, I will give you US$10 million,” Java declared.
Another preacher, Miracle Paul, warned religious leaders against accepting Makandiwa’s offers, saying it might be his way of stealing their spiritual powers.
Interestingly, Java on Tuesday indicated that he would accept the challenge, telling his followers on Facebook: “1 million usd loading…. See you on Sunday!!”
