ZIFA to bid to host Men’s U17 AFCON Qualifier tournament with no venues

HARARE – The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) Executive Committee has announced its intention to bid for the Men’s U17 AFCON Qualifier tournament, scheduled for September 2025.

In a statement released by the ZIFA media department on Tuesday, the committee confirmed its unanimous decision to submit a bid for the tournament, set to take place from September 4 to 17, 2025.

“The (ZIFA) committee unanimously agreed to submit a bid to host the Men’s U17 Tournament, scheduled to take place from 4–17 September 2025.

“This tournament will serve as an AFCON qualifier, and hosting it would provide a significant opportunity to showcase Zimbabwe’s organisational capacity and footballing potential on the continental stage.

“ZIFA will consult extensively with Government and work hand in hand with the relevant line ministries in order to ensure a successful bid,” reads the statement.

However, Zimbabwe currently has no certified stadium to host international matches as all stadias were banned by CAF from hosting national teams and continental matches.
