Championship-winning coach Tonderai ‘Stanza’ Ndiraya is hoping for a successful maiden season with newly promoted Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) outfit Scottland FC.
Ndiraya who guided Simba Bhora to a historic championship title last season, left the Shamva-based side to take the helms at Scottland owned by gold dealer and businessman Scott Sakupwanya.
The ex-Dynamos gaffer replaced Genesis Mangombe, who recently bade farewell after leading the team to promotion.
A few weeks after his arrival at Scottland, Ndiraya has made his ambitions clear: he wants a successful campaign in their debut season in the top-flight league.
“My hope is that we have a successful maiden season,” Stanza told the club’s media department on his unveiling.
This suggests he is aiming for silverware, targeting either the league title or the Chibuku Super Cup, as these are so far the only trophies in Zimbabwean football.
Ndiraya added: “I’m incredibly excited for obvious reasons. This is the biggest and hottest franchise due to what the club has done so far.
“I feel privileged to have been given the opportunity to lead such a renowned brand.”
Scottland has already made over 15 signings, assembling a star-studded squad comprising of the league’s best talent from the goalkeeping department, defense, midfield to the forwards.
These include Talbert Shumba, Taimon Mvula, Marvelous Chigumira, Godknows Murwira, Peter Muduhwa, Khama Billiat, Walter Musona and Lynoth Chikuhwa.
