HARARE – Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) presidential aspirant Nqobile Magwizi’s eligibility to contest in the upcoming ZIFA executive board elections set for 25 January is being questioned by disqualified candidate Temba Mliswa.

The outspoken Mliswa alleges that Magwizi misrepresented his involvement in football to meet the five-year requirement for executive board positions.

Mliswa disputes Magwizi’s claim of serving on the board of Banket United for the required five year duration.

The ex-Norton legislator says there is no record of Magwizi’s board membership at the club within the past five years, suggesting the highly respected businessman fabricated documentation.

In an audio message he sent to various Whatsapp groups, Mliswa confidently says:

“Scrutiny Magwizi’s issue of him being a Banket United board member…he is lying. At Banket United, he has no record showing he was at the club in the last five years.”

Mliswa argues that if Magwizi is elected, the election would be unconstitutional.

The ex-ZanuPF member is challenging his own disqualification from the upcoming elections at the High Court.
