Veteran Zimbabwean journalist Lewis Machipisa, who worked for the Inter Press Service (IPS) in Zimbabwe and later the BBC in the UK, has reportedly died in London today.

According to a source “his son found him not responding in the morning.”

In a tribute posted on X, fellow journalist Hopewell Chin’ono said “Lewis and I were classmates at journalism school at the Zimbabwe Institute of Mass Communications.

“Our paths crossed again at the BBC World Service in 2003 when he moved to London, and I was returning to Zimbabwe. He lived in London until today when he passed on.

“I am deeply saddened by his passing and extend my condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues. May his soul rest in peace.”
