Bulawayo Mayor David Coltart has expressed disappointment over Zimbabwean football legend Peter Ndlovu’s decision to accept a luxury car from controversial tenderpreneur Wicknell Chivayo.
On Monday, Chivayo gifted Ndlovu a brand-new 2024 BMW X6M Sport, valued at US$144,000.
The vehicle was collected by Ndlovu from a car dealership in Sandton, South Africa.

Chivayo said the gift was a token of appreciation for Ndlovu’s contributions to Zimbabwean football.
However, Coltart criticised Ndlovu for accepting the car, raising concerns about the source of the funds used to purchase the top of the range vehicle.
“I am sad that Peter Ndlovu has had to sully his fine name in this way.
“Celebrities have a duty to ask the question – where did the money come from to buy these vehicles,” he wrote.

Recently, Chivayo has been making headlines splashing money, buying Zimbabwean celebrities luxury cars and giving them huge sums of money.
While the majority of them (celebrities) have accepted Chivayo’s gifts, the United States based Chimurenga music legend Thomas Mapfumo refused the offer.
Chivayo offered to buy Mapfumo a US$200 000 luxury car and a house worth US$300 000.
Mapfumo refused the offer, criticising Chivayo for spending large sums of ‘dirty’ money on expensive cars while hospitals don’t have medicines and equipment.
