The Zimbabwe U-17 national team has thumped Eswatini U-17s 5-1 in their opening match at the just started 2024 COSAFA Cup being held in South Africa.

Promising versatile midfielder Tadiwa Chakuchichi opened the scoring just before the half hour mark as the Young Warriors took an early deserved lead.

El Shaddai Sadomba, son of Dynamos legend Edward, doubled the lead a few minutes after Chakuchichi.

The prolific young striker found the net again to complete his hat trick as Zimbabwe went into the break leading 4-0.

Valentine Macheka who was named Player of the Match, netted Zimbabwe’s 5th goal while Menzi Dlamini scored the consolation goal for Eswatini.

The Young Warriors are scheduled to play Zambia next on the 7th before they face off Namibia in their final group stage match on the 9th.

The two teams that will reach the final of this tournament will automatically qualify for the next edition of the U-17s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
