Siqokoqela Mphoko, the son of former Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko, has made a shocking accusation that his father was behind his rape case.
Siqokoqela was initially sentenced to 20 years in prison for allegedly raping his 12-year-old niece. But the conviction was overturned by the Bulawayo High Court in October.
In a recent social media post, Siqokoqela claimed that his father, Phelekezela Mphoko, was the mastermind behind the rape allegations. He was responding to an X user who blasted his father for being linked to Zanu-PF.
He alleged that his father had used a woman, Mantombi Ndlovu, to falsely accuse him of rape.
“My brother let me tell you something very sad. My father is the one who was behind this entire lie,” Siqokoqela Mphoko stated.
“He is the one who sent this lady to say and do what she did. Sometimes, you insult a person without knowing anything, but the question is why are you angry with me. I don’t know you.”
Siqokoqela’s accusations come after his successful appeal against his initial conviction. The Bulawayo High Court deemed the initial conviction “unsafe” due to concerns over the complainant’s validity and potential coercion.
Siqokoqela further stated that Ndlovu, who used her 13 year old daughter to sell this lie, is no longer reachable.
“That was the case. It was finalised. She lied. Gave false evidence and was caught out. She has since gone silent. Locked her Facebook account and is basically trying to be invisible. She used her 13 year old daughter to sell this lie.
“They used the record from proceedings and followed the law at the High Court. They dealt with the matter on merit. No investigation was done by the cops. They looked at my evidence and the witnesses I brought. I have CCTV cameras in my house,” he said.
The former Vice President, Phelekezela Mphoko is currently facing charges of criminal abuse of office, and his appeal was dismissed by the Supreme Court in June. The trial is ongoing.
