Northern Region Division One League title contenders Scottland FC kept their hopes for top flight league promotion alive, beating DZ Royal Stars 5-1 at Rufaro Stadium in Harare on Wednesday.
Former Soccer Star of the Year, Denver Mukamba, opened the scoring for the moneybags five minutes into the match.
Jacob Nyakope, Ronald Pfumbidzai, Allan Gahadzikwa and King Nadolo also got their names on the score sheet.
After the big victory, Scottland players will reportedly receive US$3,000 each. US$1,500 for the winning bonus as well as the other US$1,500 for scoring five goals as promised by the club’s owner and gold dealer Scott Sakupwanya.
The Mabvuku Tafara legislator told the players during his address on Monday that they will receive US$1,500 each if they score five goals and above against Royal Stars.
Originally, the Betterbrands owner had promised them US$200 each for every single goal scored.
Scottland are eyeing top flight league promotion with three games left in the season.
Their chances to earn the sole ticket were increased after log leaders Mwos dropped points yesterday.
The Lloyd Mutasa coached side drew 0-0 with Black Mambas.
As it stands, Scottland are now a point behind Mwos with 75 points after 35 games.
The moneybags who have been implicated in match fixing scandals could leapfrog the Punters as Mwos are nicknamed.
This comes after they were reportedly awarded three points and three goals for their abandoned match against Karoi United recently.
