It never rains but pours for the Premier Soccer League (PSL) champions Ngezi Platinum Stars as their former coaches are taking them to FIFA claiming hefty amounts of money for ‘unfair dismissals’.
Benjani Mwaruwari who was their coach for a brief stint in 2022, is reportedly the latest gaffer to report them to FIFA.
Nicknamed “The Undertaker,” Mwaruwari has reportedly filed a substantial US$1.6 million lawsuit with FIFA, claiming unfair dismissal by the Mhondoro based club, H-Metro reported on Wednesday.
Mwaruwari’s case comes just a week after Ngezi Platinum was ordered by FIFA to pay Bongani Mafu, his former assistant coach, nearly US$200,000 for a similar claim of unfair dismissal.
These dismissals occurred under the leadership of Yvonne Manwa, who was the CEO of Ngezi Platinum at the time.
Interestingly, Manwa has since moved on to become the CEO of the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) where she also sacked employees on her arrival.
As a result, ZIFA are said to be in hot soup following the sackings.
This comes after some of the employees have taken the association to the labour court filing lawsuits for unfair dismissals.
