HARARE – Barely a week after his reappointment as the Zimbabwe Warriors Team Manager once again, veteran football administrator Sharif Mussa has reportedly been relieved of his duties.

Chicken Inn Team Manager Clemence Matawu who recently has been serving in the same role in the men’s senior national team has been reinstated.

According to Newsday Sport, the new development comes after a tug of war between the ZIFA Normalisation Committee (NC) and the secretariat when it comes to hiring of the national team’s technical team staff members.

Mussa was reportedly appointed by the secretariat without consulting the NC which then overturned things returning the former Motor Action star, Matawu.

The secretariat’s argument to appoint Mussa who had a career spanning 15 years before he retired in 2017, is that Matawu “struggles in the job because he cannot handle certain big egos in the Warriors set up”.

Apart from Mussa, veteran football doctor Nicholas Munyonga who once worked with the Warriors has also been removed and Bulawayo Chiefs’ team doctor Idzai Muzondo returned.

Muzondo has been the Warriors’ team doctor in recent games.

She was appointed when the team held a five day training camp in Harare last year in October.

She traveled with the team to Rwanda for the World Cup qualifiers in November as well as in the recent assignment in June in South Africa.
