Former footballer and “Match of the Day” presenter Jermaine Jenas (41) has been sacked by the BBC following complaints about his workplace conduct.
Jenas, who previously hosted “The One Show” was taken off air from both programs earlier this week due to alleged issues involving digital communications such as text messages.
The former professional footballer, who earned between £190,000 – £194,999 annually for his BBC work on the FA Cup, Match of the Day, and World Cup coverage, has also had his profile removed from his agent’s website.
A BBC spokesperson said: “We can confirm Jermaine Jenas is no longer part of our presenting lineup.” His agency MC Saatchi are also no longer representing him.
While the BBC has confirmed Jenas is no longer part of their presenting lineup, the nature of the complaints against him has not been publicly disclosed.
In addition to his BBC roles, Jenas also works as a presenter for talkSport radio and is employed by TNT Sports, though the latter has declined to comment on the situation.
The 41-year-old retired from professional football in 2016 and has since transitioned into media work, establishing the Aquinus Foundation to support young people in his hometown of Nottingham.
